2005 Dodge Neon knock

"i have a 2005 neon sxt. When I accelerate the engine knocks, when I am at idle speed it does not. There are no codes. I just changed the oil and added a qt of lucas and also changed the plugs. What could be the problem?"

Is knock related to engine RPM? Ie. Increases as to RPM if yes suspect rod bearing

What would cause that and how to fix it? Can I keep driving it without damage?

Bearing worn due to high milage would think. Not good to keep driving will get louder and spin damaging crank. Fix is rebuild or replace engine. Have a shop take a listen

It is more like a tapping then a knocking to be honest.

And it does not do it while I am at a idle drive nor does it do it all the time.

Maybe a hydraulic lifter very hard to diagnose noises over internet so go to shop have them take a listen

I replaced tge knock sensor. The car is running muck better. It still has a slight knock, does the computer need time to fix the timing for it to stop knocking?

Being there is no code maybe carbon build up on EGR pintel pull of and clean EGR pintel and passagewats yes CARB cleaner and wire bruch
