Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. Make sure the ground from the battery to the engine block is clean and tight. If they are, have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for voltage to the smaller wire on the starter. You should have 12 volts. If you do, the starter is bad. If you don't check the starter relay.

the battery is clean and tight the voltage is fine. when i did the key the only error code it came up with was gas cap. i took it off wiped around it and put it back on tightly. car started up than when shut off same problem came back car won't even crank even if i do the same thing with the gas cap .

I really believe you have a bad or weak ground. The gas cap wouldn't stop the engine from running. It can set an EVAP code for the emissions system, but thats it. You need to do the test at the starter to see if there is power to it when you turn the key to the start position. I am questioning the following things, the starter, starter relay, ignition switch. The starter is where you need to start.
