2005 Chrysler 300 engine check light

My 2005 300 the symbol for the check engine lights comes on I took my car to the shop and they ran test on at this time the light was off so they said that whatever the problem is the system is not keeping a code so they do not know where to start. I left the shop two days later it cam on again, went off over the weekend and has since come on again. I have no idea what to do or check.

When the light comes on again have the car scanned for codes at a auto parts store like auto zone. Write the exact code numbers down not code descriptions. Let me know what they are.
