CADILLAC SRX ENGINE PROBLEM
2005 Cadillac SRX • 61,000 miles
Is the V8 Northstar the "Deathstar" of Cadillac? I'm looking at a 2005 Cadillac srx V8 northstar with 61000 miles. I have searched the internet til my brain has turned to mush on this engine. Is it a long distance engine or would I be better off with a 2002 Acura MDX Touring with 136k. The Cadillac rides and appears to have no problems. My main question is the Northstar v8. 3 out of 4 mechanics I asked acted like it was a curse word. Research on the internet indicates after 2004 model Northstar v8 was a smooth running engine (before 2004 head gasket, oil leaks, burn oil, coolant problems, etc...). My dad is a musician so we are car illiterate. We need help. Is this engine gonna take us to the realm of 175k 200k without major problems, or is this purchase a gamble i don't want to take? personal email firstname.lastname@example.org
