Subaru Forester Blown head gasket Problem

Our subaru has a blown head caskit and will cost $1700 to repair. There is a small leak of oil but not coolant which gives off a sharp burning smell that permiates the interior and smokes from the hood of the car. We have just replaced the clutch $800 and a/c $800 and odd repairs totaling $500. Should we repair and hope for a couple of more years w/o a car payment or would it be advisable to replace the car?

Thanks for any help you can share.

If it is only a blown head gasket, I would proceed with repairs.
