Saturn Ion Shifter Problem

Key wouldn't turn off so I replaced ignition lock cylinder and that didn't fix it. I noticed a little white button/plunger off the side of cylinder housing pressed that and the key turned to the off position. Put key in turned car on went to shut off and same thing again. What is that part called and is it expesive and hard to fix?

Sounds like a bad micro switch at the base of the shifter really common on those cars.If you you play with the shifter and shifter button will the key turn off?I have the part number for the part and know where to get it if its the micro switch.
