Pontiac Grand Prix Thermostat Problem
Yesterday my car suddenly hit the red line i pulled into a store and fillied the oveflow with radiator fluid then it went fine then redlined then cooled just below the red line could this be a thermostat failing

I would check thermostat, make sure that the fans are working and that there is no external leaks and the pressure cap is ok.

took car to shop it was the plastic piece that hold up the belt that connects the water pump to the engine had broken probably due to impact on wood on the hiway
