I have a 2004 Olds Alero with a 2.2 ecotec. I lost spark on number 4 cylinder. I pulled the coil assembly off the top of the motor and checked for spark direct. I have spark on 1, 2 and 3 but nothing on 4. I dont think it is the coil because the 2.2 ecotec only runs on 2 coil packs and if I had a bad coil I would have lost spark on two cylinders. Any ideas?

You can loose spark on one cylinder and have a bad coil usually when the coils fail you will loose spark to one cylinder. I have seen it before you have a bad coil cassette.

Sure it may not be the ignition control module?

No because two cylinders fire at the same time together I have worked on these engines for years when I worked for saturn. Its going to be a coil cassette a module wouldn't make sense for one plug not firing.

Thank you for the lead. I just did a little more investigating on the coil and I think your right. 2 and 3 have normal spark and 1 has a huge spark and nothing on 4. I will hunt down a coil and try it out. Thank you very much.
