It failed due to "coolant temperature below thermostat rating" What do I do next?

See if coolant level is full then have a pro pressure check for leaks.

I put in new coolant 2 weeks ago but I overfilled it, could that have created the problem? I need to have my smog check ASAP!

Overfilling it wouldn't cause the coolant problem it may not have been hot enough to test for smog. On most of those if you drive the car about 20 miles on eway and make sure oil and filter as well as air filter were changed recently should take care of the problem. You car probably hadn't been driven enough to get up to temp.

Of course it won't pass if the light is still on you have to see what the code is and get it fixed. Auto parts does for free
