2004 Mercury Sable Repair Question

Engine s running rough, and you can hear a fuel knock comimg from engine, also saw catalytic coverter turning red.
WHILE coming off interstate slowing down heard noise from engne felt no power and engne runnng rough and knocking noise.

engine is missing which is why the converter is glowing.
the noise may be another issue. it could be a valve related issue like a rocker arm. you need to have this checked.
