Overheating

My sisters jeep liberty battery lite came on and it started to over heat?

Have you checked under the hood? Possible serpentine belt failure. If the belt broke the water pump would not be circulating coolant leading to overheating and if the alternator isnt turning, no charging, which will illuminate the battery light.

No problem, was there a reason it was broke/off? Broken tensioner, water pump. Etc?
