I have traced an light problem to the ECU and need to replace it. jeep of course wants arnd 700 for the part. i'm wondering if i can purchase one from a scrap yard - same ECU model numbers and have it work. it is an 04 jeep liberty. i have talked to the dealership and they tell me the only way my jeep will be repaired is by them by buying the part for 700 then get it programmed by them and installed by them. i'm hoping to just get my vin programmed into the one from the wreckers but Jeep says no. i'm looking for a second opinion
