2004 Jaguar X-Type Repair Question

2004 x type jaguar awd my question is my trunk will not lock and trunk released wont clickI open the boot and closed boot latch press the little plunger in light go off but still dont lock
I can't not explain anymore because is an elctric o broken latch I dont now the reason

Could be a problem with the liftgate actuator/power issue-remove liftgate trim panel to access it
