2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Front Axle Rocks Backwards Backing Backup Pretty Fast

I have a dodge 2500. Front axle rocks backwards when backing up. If I backup pretty fast and slam on the brake it makes a popping noise. I looked I think that noise is from when my axle rocks the u joint rocks with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
