2004 Chrysler Crossfire control module

Electrical problem
2004 Chrysler Crossfire 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 37000 miles

I purchased this car several months ago. On several occasions I have had a hard time cranking this car. When I turn the key, everything works, radio, air etc, however, the engine will not turn over. It usually will crank after sitting for a while. Well, last week, I tried for 3 days to get it started with no luck, so I had it towed to the local Chrysler dealer. When the machinic checked it out, it crank every time. He has had the car for a week. It has cranked however, now he says the windsheild wipers are not working. He just called and said it is the control module going bad and it will cost $1700.00 to replace this. My question is does this sound right or am I getting ripped off.
