Speedometer on 2004 chevy silverado not working

The gauge cluster on my 2004 silverado stopped working properly. I found out that they go bad around 70K and the only real solution is to replace or repair the cluster. I have replaced the cluster, but the speedometer is still not working. It is stuck at 0mph. I would like to know if there is some other part/fuse/wire that needs to be checked or replaced to get the speedometer to work again.

The speedometer is powered by a vehicle speed sensor. Check that.
