Hi,
The battery light and phrase "battery not charging" have been coming on my 2004 Tahoe Z71. It stalled out last night. Last week it wouldn't start and we thought it was a loose battery connection because it seemed to be ok. Checked the battery and alternator and both were good. Help!

Load test the battery. Check the fusible link between the battery and alternator. What's the voltage reading across the battery when the engine is running? It should be a minimum of 13.5Volts. Also, have a diode test run on the alternator. Voltage can look fine but still have no current.
