My silverado is a 1500, 4.8 engine. Recently when starting the vehicle to warm up, the hvac system will not blow hot air. The hvac does work but only blows cold air. It is not until I put the truck in gear and start driving for the air to be hot. What could be causing this?

Should have no relation to the shifter. How long sitting will it take for heat to come out?

I have had it running for at least 30 minutes with only cold air blowing. But once I start driving the hot air will blow instantly.
