There is a squeak coming from my engine compartment in the area of the serpentine belt. The squeak goes away immediately if I pop my car from "drive" to "neutral". The squeak also comes back immediately if I switch from "neutral" to "drive". What can be causing this? What engine component is being affected when I switch gears from "drive" to "neutral"? I recently had my timing belt replaced and this squeak started right after that.

I am not sure how the noise sounds like so is guessing on what it could be.
Have you referred to the person who performed the timing belt replacement?
Does noise occur when shifted to R?
Was the serpentine belt replaced? If yes, was it of the correct size?

Check the side bracket installation as well. Ensure it is seated correctly and not brushing against anything as the engine shifts position when transmisison is shifted to D.
