With my engine light on, my passat 03 failed the NJ state inspection . OBD system individual codes present P0139, P0140,P0456.

I brought my car to a garage. They charged me $115 for diagnostic fee, $304 for OXY SEN KIT, $202 for a valve. And then said sorry there is another problem with a combi valve for $400.

My question is - is this reasonable - an engine light for $1000 ?

Thanks

Can you post the actual codes set in the ECU, that way i can see what should have been done.

Your first two codes are for your bank 1 sensor 2 oxygen sensor. Which should be around a $300 repair (depending on the brand of sensor you use). Your last code is a EVAP leak.

I'm not sure why they are replacing a combi valve for this.. I'd take the vehicle somewhere else. It shouldn't be a $1000 repair.
