I have recently brought my car to a
shop to get my front brake pads
replaced. After about 2 weeks I
started hearing a scraping sound
whenever I started slowing down. I
brought the car back to the shop and
they said they took the brakes apart,
greased everything and it should be
working now.

Now after another two weeks, I hear
the scraping again. It doesn't scrape
at first, after driving for about 10min
it starts scraping when I slightly hit
the brakes up until I stand still. What could that be?
Do you
have the same problem?

Before I can give an opinion I need some info ok. What type of brake pads were put on the car ie ceramic or metallic or organic? Were the rotors replaced or turned? If replaced how were the rotors cleaned? Get back to me with what you can and lets see if we can fix this.

Thanks for your reply. The brake pads are ceramic/semi metallic. The rotors have not been replaced, I don't know if they rotated them.

Ceramic pads are the correct type. So I would say find out if they were turned or not. If not that would be the noise, if they were then they didn't clean them before putting them back on so the metals got into the pad and that will make lots of noise too.

Thanks again! Do you suggest I get new rotors? The car has 140,000 miles and the rotors have never been changed.

If they are close to discard then yes, and wash them with dishwashing liquid to clean them.
