I have tryed w/jumpers to the red pull tab n fuse box n to the door catch. Is charging the batt thru the cig lighter n option? I cant get enough charge on the batt to activate the hood latch. Is there a mechanical option? Thank You, Jim

You must use a 12 volt source (not a charger) to connect to the red plug and ground. Make sure you have good connections. You may need to help the front lid up if it won't pop open as you hold the switch. There is a small cable that you can access thru the bottom of the front bunper although you won't be able to see it. You have to reach up high near the latch area and pull hard.

You can access the cable at the left front fender liner area but you have to remove the fender liner. The cable is very thin so it may be hard to see. It should be looped on the end. If you have a good connection at the body and the pin at the fuse box the lid should release when you lift up on the switch. If the car was locked when the battery went dead the alarm is in a activated state and the frt latch won't release elelctrically anyway so you'll need to reach the cable. Hope this helps.

Thank You for the reply. I have taken the liner out n looked w/good light extensively w/no results. I even have a pic of a dissasembled 996 showng the loop location. I have left the charger on the cig lighter for 5 days now w/no result. I thought I could get enough charge on the batt to let me get it out of alarm mode. I have lifted the car n looked everywhere I can get to within reason (w/very good light) and did not find the cable. I thought it might have been relocated for easier access. Is there any way I can power up that circuit thru the fuse itself? What is fuse location for that circuit? Also do you know what thread size/pitch the tow hook is? I will fab 1 up in the shop versus paying $75 n frieght. If I have to have it hauled to Porsche I will need one because its locked n my trunk. Thank You again, Jim
