Pontiac Vibe Noise Problem

2003 vibe AWD how can i tell da difference between a bad rear cv drive and a bad rear differential? A loud noise is comming from the rear of vehicle. Oil is spotted where the right rear cv dive shaft is connected to the differential. thanking you in advance, Anthony.

A diff will normally howl at speed and change pitch of the noise with throttle position, lift the throttle and the noise alters, drive shafts and wheel bearings normally do not respond in this way.
