2003 Pontiac Grand Prix Repair Question

Pontiac Grand Prix Heater Problem
My car will heat up and blow out hot air for a minute or two then all of a sudden it will blow out cold. If I play with the temp controls sometime it will blow out hot again. It switches instantly from hot to cold and cold to hot. Any ideas?

check to make sure coolant is full first. check for a vacuum leak from engine to heater, and checkt items 1 & 6 on heater.
