I haven't checked in the daytime, but when driving at night with the headlamps on, the two rear tail/stop lights work. When the brakes are applied, the upper stop light goes on, and the left rear stop light works (brightens), but the right tail/stop light does not work (nor does this tail light remain lit). Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

Check the ground circuit connection for the rear right taillight. The ground circuit is bad resulting in current traveling backwards and neutralising the circuit.
