2003 MG ZR heater problem

Hi I have a 2003 mgzr whch I got from my brother the heater nobs on the controls dont work on settings one or two dont blow any air at all but three four and five work ok the problem is im only getting cold air wee changed the head gasket and had the head skimmed as that white gooey stuf had got into my expansion tank and my dip stick the car has never overheated and still doesnt but blow out hot air wee flushed the all the water with an engine flush but still no one and two dont wok on the controls but wee still cant get hot air to come through the dash the engine deos not overheat would you please have any suggestions it would be much appreciated thanks for any help you my by able to suggest.

We have no info on this car, but check your resistor for your blower and see if it is getting power if it is the resistor may be bad, it may be by the blower. Check for a closed water valve if you have one for heat, if not check actuators in heater. Make sure both hoses going to heater are hot. You can also back flush heater by hooking a waterhose and turning on water, you may have got some of the "gooey stuff" in your heater as well.
