Took navigator to mechanic, they said it was fuel pump, had it about a week$700, went to pick it up, it started for a few minutes then died out again, then they checked battery said it was not charging, then the check charging light came on, he says it could be alternator, that light wasn't on before still waiting for call to see what the problem is, the lights would flicker, then the whole dash went dead, is I possible that the alternator went out just like that, when that wasn't the original problem?

In short, yes, the alternator can cause all of this. So, we need to start with two things.

First, we need to test the alternator using this guide:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-alternator

Next, we need to test the battery because even if the alternator is fixed the battery could be discharged enough that it cannot be charged by the alternator.

If the engine is still stalling and the other electrical failures, then we could have a cable issue with the battery. here is another guide that will help with the stalling issue:

Let's start with confirm the battery and alternator and we can go from there.

Thanks
