I need to replace my brake pads and would like to know if I need any special tools in order to do the job. I have most common wrenches sockets etc. But I have limited Hex keys, and Star type drivers.

THERE ARE A FEW OTHERS, FROM DIFFERENT FOLKS, WHERE THIS ONE CAME FROM

I JUST TYPED "JEEP LIBERTY BRAKES" INTO THE YOU TUBE SEARCH BOX

I HAVE QUITE A FEW TOOLS, AND SORTA JUST GRAB WHAT I NEED, FOR WHATEVER APPLICATION, SORRY I CAN'T GIVE SPECIFIC SIZES AND SUCH, NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE JUST BUY "A SPECIFIC TOOL", WE USUALLY BUY "SETS" OF THINGS LIKE SOCKETS, TORX BITS, ALLEN WRENCHES, ETC

(TOOLING IS A GREAT INVESTMENT!)

SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD BE YOUR BEST BUDDY FOR A REPAIR.....IT WILL HAVE ALL OF THE SPECIFIC TORQUE SPECS AND OTHER GOOD STUFF YOU "MISS OUT ON" IN A QUICK VIDEO

MY JEEPS (PAST AND PRESENT) HAVE NOT BEEN TO A "PAY SHOP" SINCE MY EX-EVIL-WIFE TOOK ONE THERE, BACK IN 1987 WHILE I WAS DEPLOYED...........EXCEPTION...WHEEL ALIGNMENTS!

I PROMOTE DIY, AS THAT IS WHAT I DO, AND NOW I'M PRETTY DARN GOOD AT IT!... I'VE DONE EVERY POSSIBLE TASK THAT CAN BE DONE TO A JEEP CJ.......MINE AND OTHERS

THE BRAKES ON YOURS WILL BE A GRATIFYING TASK!

...........LET'S MAKE SURE WE DO IT RIGHT.......ROTORS IN GOOD SHAPE? HOSES LOOK GOOD?

LEMME KNOW IF I CAN AID YOU MORE

YOUR TURN

Requires no special tools. 10/11 mm wrench (just did one but didn't pay attention to the wrench) removes the caliper to slider bolts.
20 mm wrench removes the caliper to knuckle bolts (if you're changing rotors it has to come off)

Rear is similar except for the parking brake parts. If you need rear rotors order the P-Brake shoes and hardware as well. You will probably need then unless you live in a no rust location.
