I had a wheel alignment and straight after I drove it home the steering wheel would randomly pull down and the car would turn sharply left. It does it at random times but mainly when I accelerate, brake, and go around corners. It is out if my control and it's as if someone is pulling down on my steering wheel. It can result in the car pulling suddenly into other lanes

We dont' have those cars in US here but take it back and have them recheck it Might be a suspension problem that they didn't see or something is loose. Shouldn't do that especially after an alignment.

I took it back straight after and it was missing a camber bolt so that was replaced but still did it. My local mechanic believes it could be a bent strut?

If the strut were bent then it should have showed up when he aligned it. If it was missing the bolt for camber and didn't realign the car that may be your problem. If it continues either take it to another mechanic or have him check all the ball joints. Bushings etc. In other words the whole front end as well as where the sub frame mounts as those could be bad or broken.
