Ford Focus Axle Problem

I have not been able to find the name of a certain part online. A while back i was doing 70 down an interstate and my rear driver side tire fell off. when the car hit the road it ground about an inch off of what i want to say is the axle. the problem is it is not an axle. it just appears to be a support bar that the Drum and shocks connect to. If you could help me out, or even just send a detailed diagram it would be very much appreciated. Thank you

It's called a spindle shaft or stub axle. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Dorman-Spindle-Stub-Shaft/2003-Ford-Focus/_/N-jk8uuZ6o44r?itemIdentifier=291716_648075_1220_
