Alternator smoking
Changed alternator and got a bad smell like burn smell and car lights and stereo turn off and the car won't turn over anymore. The same thing happen when we changed it the first time smelled like plastic burning smell and the car was dead.

Check if the battery wire to the alternator is shorted direct to ground
