The Front Airbag Light just came on.
It flashes the code: 4 - 6. What does that mean?
Do you
have the same problem?

We need the primary code first, then we can find the secondary code that you gave us.

Using my Actron Auto Scanner Plus, Model CP9580A there is No Code that comes up. The only information is that the Front Airbag Light on the instrument panel flashes 4 times, pauses, then flashes 6 times then stays continuously lit. Waiting for reply.

The fact that it stay lit means there is indeed a fault/code. Perhaps a different scan tool will be able to read it. I did find a Tech Service Bulletin on your SRS system though, if this hasn't been addressed it may need to be

Here's a video that might help

Go to a parts store and have them pull the code for you.

My airbag light is on and I am looking to see how much it will cost to replace part. I was told I would have to replace OCS module and bladder.
Did Ford company ever have a recall on the airbag light?

Thank you very much.

Regards,

Mildred Butler

I do not know what either of those parts are, and it is not likely two parts failed at the same time. Do you have the exact diagnostic fault code number? If you supply that, I can look up its meaning.

This is what was given to me - 85 Accessories - 1092 CPT - They verified concern test RCM. B2909 OCS hard fault code pin point test. Test wiring from OCS to RCM OKI performed system reset could not reset. Need too replace OCS Module and Bladder. This is the information that was given to me at a cost of $2574.18 including labor which I already paid labor just to have them look at it. I hope this help yopu, as this is all I have.

Thank you

B2909 refers to the Passenger belt tension sensor, specifically a wire to it could be open or grounded. In 99 percent of cases, the circuit has a problem that must be diagnosed. The computer has to be working to detect the problem, so there is no need to replace it. In a very rare one percent of the time, a defect inside the computer can cause it to falsely set a fault code. The computer is only suspect when testing shows there is no defect in the circuit.

I still don't know what is meant by "bladder". If that refers to one of the air bags, those are only replaced if one has been set off in a crash.

My airbag light stays on and I would like to know if I can disconnect that light without disconnecting other warning lights. Also is there a way to check the airbag mechanism and repair it? I cannot get an inspection sticker without this being rectified.

No way to disconnect the light. The SRS control module should be scanned for trouble codes. There will be a code stored and with that we will know which diagnostic flowchart to follow.

Indicates a fault in the SRS (supplemental restraint system). Most likely simply due to a faulty sensor. Nothing will happen to the vehicle. You need to have a diagnostic scan on done to the vehicle so they can retrieve the trouble codes stored by the SRS

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

This is a fault with the electrical connection to the drivers seat belt pretensioner, any SRS work should be referred to a qualified mechanic or a dealer.

There Is an error in the SRS system, a scan will give you the fault code, any SRS work must be done by a qualified tech as this system is extremely dangerous to work on, while the light is on, the SRS system is inactive.
