Dodge Ram Engine Problem
1/15/13 Sirs, I own a Dodge Ram 2500 with deisel engine. It is equipped with an engine block heater I use in Winter and is very helpful. My question is whether there is any kind of indicator light (or anything else) that tells me when the heater is functioning?

Nope. It's not tied in with any of the truck's electronics. It's just a heating element wired to the power cord. What might work is to look for a tiny spark as you connect the plug to the extension cord. A spark indicates current is flowing. If you can't see that, use an ohm meter to measure the continuity between the two prongs of the plug, and use sandpaper to clean the prongs if they're dull or corroded. That will insure they make a good contact.
