Hello! So I took my trailblazer into the local chevy shop and was told that my front differential was completely shot and needed replaced. When they called my warranty company they said they would send out a inspector. What is this inspector checking for? Two months ago I took my vehicle in for maintenance and they should have checked and filled all fluid includeing differential fluid. Under my drive train warranty it should be covered so I guess I don't understand what this inspector is being sent for and what he's looking for. Could someone give me some insight on this situation? Im paying nearly 3k for a powertrain warranty so it better be covered!

In some cases they come out and inspect to be sure it is not from customer neglect or abuse. The shop will show him the guts inside and the adjuster will determine whether it is covered or not.

The fluid could have been checked when you had it serviced and could still fail from something else.

Hey thanks for the quick response! The reason I bring up my last maintenance is the mechanic who is working on my truck said the differential was bone dry with no sign of leaking or seeping and asked if I noticed any. I only park in two places one at home and my spot at work. Both of which has no markings of leaking such a heavy fluid as a 90 weight lubrication nor any other signs or leaking. So my conclusion came to it has been dry since I bought it used and they never checked when I paid them to, or it somehow went somewhere with no sign, but I still paid them to check the level. I have not used the 4WD what so ever since receiving my last maintenance so Im not sure where else it could have gone? The last shop I went to truly put me in a bad place and Im very scared they took my money while completely neglecting my front differential. I will attach a photo of my front differential completely dry along with thru case. Let me know what you think please?
