Without removing the entire dashboard, how do you repair the device/mechanisum that diverts the air from the defroster to the floor to the vent, in a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban 1500.
Do you
have the same problem?

With out being able to view the exact problem I can't tell, but normally this will be a major undertaking, have you inspected the operation mechanism as yet, can you see what is broken or malfunctioning?

I have had it to a chevy dealer and they have said that it will be $1,000 to take the dash out and reattache or replace the controllers that divert the air between the vent, defrost, and floor ducts.
I don't have $1,000.

The blend defrost actuators are stuck in the defrost position and will not move into the vent, or heat or combination position.

Look under the dash from the driver's side and you will see the actuator at the left end of the HVAC housing. I'm not saying you will be able to fix anything from there but you might get it unjammed.

My son decided to go ahead and remove the dash himself, over the weekend; as he could not wait until today to get an answer.
Can you send us the Chevrolet printed information on how to reassemble the dash, without spending more money? If not please close out this request.
