Hi:
I have a2003 S-10 pickup truck with 4.3L V6.
I replaced alternator with a brand new OE fit alternator. Plug in connector and battery terminal on alternator all are secure and tight. I removed, cleaned and re-tightened battery terminals, but dash battery indicator light is flashing. Gauge indicates alternator putting out correct volts. Also had O'Reilly Auto parts electrical check as well, their sensor indicated battery good and alternator working. Why does the light keep flashing?

Hello,

Sometimes the battery light will flash when there is a problem with the computer, I would scan for codes to see if anything what is going on and then clear the codes if any are present. Sometimes the bad alternator can set a code that needs to be cleared.

Here is a wiring diagram of the alternator so you can make sure it is getting power where it should and there is a fuse involved which should also be checked.

Please run some tests and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Best, Ken

After installing new battery and alt. The battery light is still on and gauge shows about 11 volts on 2003 s-10 4.3L. What else can it be?

You could have a blown fuse bad fuse link or wire. Did you have the new alternator tested before you installed it?Also do you have a multimeter to do some testing?

Key in the run position Battery terminal of alternator should have battery voltage at it. You also should have had the alternator tested before you left the store I have seen three new alternator's in a row test bad in the store. Also let me know if the alternator is charging by checking with your volt meter like you were going to.
