The easiest way that I have come across.

- disconnect battery negative
- remove dipstick
- remove plastic trim that runs across the front of the engine
(around the dipstick and to the side of the engine)
- disconnect secondary air tube at right of cylinder head & move
out of the way to the left side (remove attaching nut)
- remove and set to the side the metal plate that is mounted to
the intake manifold at front of engine (dipstick tube attaches to
it). Disconnect electrical plug at solenoid under metal plate
to be able to move plate & solenoid assembly to the side
- remove or leave plastic dipstick in place (plastic tube is easily
broken)
- remove intake tube from throttle body
- remove throttle body, disconnect harness plug & vacuum line, and
set throttle body away in a safe place
- rotate belt tensioner & lock tensioner into place using a metal
pin through locking holes
- remove belt
- remove alternator mounting bolts
- remove wiring & plug connectors at rear of alternator and set aside
- wiggle alternator out of its mounting position

Install in reverse

The above process is off of the top of my head.
