Do I need new steering column and how much is second hand one

Hi, I have been told of a mechanical friend that I need a new steereing column on my vauxhall combo van. The actual steering wheel pulls back and then forwards to its normal position I would say the whole steering wheel moves approximately 15mm

Replace column bearings. Youll need to try and get a salvage one.

Thanks, ive found a steering column online for  85 is it worth replacing the whole thing
