You can feel that engine is not running smooth and more noisy. After 4-5 weeks of oil change you can hear 'cluck' sound when you press on gas. The mechanic put synthetic oil and it is supposed to go for 5000 miles. When I checked oil level after 3000 miles there wasn't much left. Is oil getting burned or are there any leaks. How can I look for oil leaks and how will I know if oil is getting burnt in the engine? Is it something else that causing this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Always reply to the question instead of posting a new question. When you reply to a question, the person who answered you would be notified and he can followup.

The history of what had transpired would also be in the same thread.

When oil leaks occurs, the engine would be covered with oil at some part. Getting under the vehicle would enable you to see if the lower parts of the engine is covered by oil.

If oil is being burnt in the engine, it would mostly be visible by the emission of grey smoke from exhaust. It could be intermittent.
