Check engine light comes on after 2,000 miles after oil change and goes off after the the oil is changed. what could be the problem? (see details)
On my 2002 Toyota Carolla the engine check light comes on approximately 2000 miles after the oil has been changed. I check the oil level and it is fine. The car has 157,000 miles. After the oil has been changed at 7000 miles the engine check light goes off. What could the problem?

Check Engine Light is not directly related to oil changes and it means an error has been detected in the engine management system.
Parts stores provides free scanning services. Get the trouble code and let us now what it is. If the light is not indicating now, the code wouls till be stored in the computer memory, unless you have disconnected the abttery.
