Hi, I have a 2002 Forester L series.

1. The front brake caliper guide pin on the bottom of the caliper bracket was stuck and I had to pound it out. Once I took it out it noticed it was dry and slightly bent. I bought a new guide pin and when I went to replace it the pin doesn't want to slide in and out of the caliper bracket easily. The top guide pin slides in and out easily. I noticed if I put the guide pin in the rubber boot without inserting the lip of the rubber boot into the caliper bracket opening (hole) that the guide pin slides into, it slides in and out easily but once I put the lip of the rubber boot in the caliper bracket opening (hole) it doesn't want to slide in and out.

2. Replaced my back brake shoes and hubs. First hub went on ok. When I went to put the other hub on once I get the tire on and the lug nuts tightened the wheel won't turn (in air before I lower it). If I take the wheel back off then the hub turns but it doesn't when I put the wheel back on.

For front brakes replace caliper bushings and lube them with either silicone grease or white grease for brakes. They may be the problem. See pic. For rear brakes make sure springs in pic are holding the shoes against the backing plate and not outward. Then measure shoes to see if they are the correct width, same on drum.
