Slapping noise in transmission 2992 Saturn Vue cvt transmission

Have 2002 saturn vue-- 4cyl cvt tranny---makes slapping noise in park or nuetral has service engine light on. I just got this vehicle so I dont have good history, but. Body control module has been replaced. Noise has gone on for 6 months, otherwise shifts nice and runs good. Whatever could it be?

SO is the 2992 a code you have?If so what is the whole code number?Sound's like you need a transmission side cover but will have to have a pressure test done first. Let me know what code's you have.

2992 is a typho --sorry, ses light and abs light on ---tried to read codes --none show --3 other shops read codes --nocodes

If the light's are on there should be code's sound's like you need to get a better scanner there are a lot of computer's on your vue. Most of the scanner's out there will only read engine emission code's and the transmission code's. But you could have body code's sound's like you have abs/traction control code's. As far as the noise goes I have seen them make a noise in the transmission and have no code's. So is it a rotational scraping noise like it scrapes then rotates around and scrapes again?
