Service Wrench Light Illuminates after running in Park for at least ~30 seconds. If you shift out of Park before it illuminates then it won't. What test is performed only in Park and requires about 30 seconds before the light is illuminated?

Are you sure it isn't a light to indicate it's time for service / oil change?

Thanks for the reply, but it is not related to service/oil change. Are there any Saturn Techs out here who know?

There is no specific test that the computer runs under these conditions. Since the light is coming on, you need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes. That will identify what is causing it to come on.

Iam a saturn service tech and I cant think of what that would be. If I had the vie in front of me the first thing I would do is scan it for codes and from there. Ethier way it has to be scanned for codes for a starting point.

Thanks for the reply, however I respectfully disagree. As an example, B2602 will only set if the ignition is "On" and the transaxle is in "Park". However, in my case the DRL system appears to be operating correctly.

With regards to having it scanned, this is not a generic fault so I would have to have GM read it and they charge $100 for this service locally. Therefore, I'm trying to avoid that ridiculous charge.

I wasnt saying there isnt any codes that dont set under those parameters I was just saying I wasnt guessing as to what they might be. Thats why I was saying a code reading would be in order. You can pick up scan tools with older software for pretty cheap that read most of the computers in the car. Also you would have it for next time. Sometimes they go for a littl over a 100 if you bargain shop and wait for the right one.

Sorry Saturntech9. My previous reply was for Jacobandnickolas not you. I hadn't yet seen your posting at that point. I've been looking at the EASE PC Scan Tool software for some time as an upgrade to my current Generic PC software setup.

It's more advanced than anything else I've found. Level 1 & 2 for the Vue is $177. Take a look here: http://www.scantoolsoftware.com/gm-scan-tool.html

It better do everything for that much then the used scan tool I was talking about on ebay will read most of the computers codes and data. But it wont do the bi directional controls.

Solved! The husband of one of my wife's employees just got a MaxiDAS Scanner ($1700) which could read all the Vue's modules. Codes were present for the ABS, OnStar and Keyless Entry systems which our Vue does not have. Therefore, the previous owner must have had the BCM changed with a used one without it being reprogrammed for the proper RPO codes. After a significant amount of searching, I located a used BCM ($50) with the same RPOs (the ones that matter) and no more Service Wrench light and everything works as it should. Yeah!
