This only started 5 days ago. My security and service light would come on about every other time I started my car. Then 3 days ago, my car decides that it doesn't want to start for about 20 minutes (this is the 1st time this has happened to me in this car). Then it just starts right up. I took it to a mechanic yesterday and he told me nothing was wrong with my car, and they found a old thermostat code he didn't say what the number was, but he did say not to worry cause the thermostat was running fine, he said he cleared the Service light. This morning I was driving to work and the lights came back on, so I took it to another mechanic around my job that some people go to and he told me the same thing nothing is wrong with my car. I want to find out whats wrong with my car, before the problem gets worse. As for Security I am not sure what that's supposed to mean, cause I didn't get a alarm key for my car and I have been using the same 2 keys to unlock my car door and start it, that I got from the dealer 2 years ago. Any information would be great, so maybe I can point the mechanics in the right direction of where to look, or maybe I need to take it to a dealer?

If you could get me the codes that are being set the exact code numbers would be very helpful. It will be a letter followed by a four digit number. If its setting a code P0128 you need a new thermostat. Means the thermostat is staying partially open. As far as your security light that is for your pass lock sensor your factory anti theft. Has anyone ever scanned your body control module for codes? That's where the codes for the security light staying on would be stored. If they used a basic code reader they won't read body control module codes. You most likely have a bad pass lock sensor or a ad Bcm. Those are the two most common reasons I have seen for the security light coming on for no reason on those cars.
