RPM guage keeps idling as though I'm giving it gas. Some research indicates it is the temp sensor. I that the same as the thermostat.

The thermostat lets the coolant circulate from the radiator into to the engine at a certain temp so the engine can get up to normal temp and closes the circulation below that temp. The coolant temp sensor tells the computer what temp the engine is to help the computer regulate the air fuel ratio turn the fan on at the correct temp. There two different parts and two different jobs. So do you have any codes? If you havent checked for codes you need to take it to a auto parts store like auto zone and have them scan it for codes if you have any codes I need the exact code numbers not the code descriptions.
