I have had this car about 3 years now. Never had any problems until reacently. The other day my wife was driving home from work and the car just died on her. By the time I got to her the car fired right up and I followed her home. Once we got home I jumped in the car and drove around for about 30 mins. No problems so I decided to drive the car to work the next day. I got to work just fine but on the way home the car shut off about 2miles from my house.I tried to start the car several times but no luck. I noticed I could not hear the fuel pump running so I assumed the pump had an intermitant problem. I waited for my wife to pull me home. Once I got home I tried the car again. It fired right up. So I installed a new fuel pump and drove the car about 1 hour before it did it again. To me it acts like an ignition issue. I have a aftermarket remote start installed. Could this be causing the problem?

I just got a chance to check the codes I had p0727 and p0335. The 335 says crank sensor. Apparently saturn owners besides myself are having the same problem. I found a car forum where someone had the exact same issues and codes but changing the crank sensor didn't fix it.

I guess ill go price a ckp sensor. I just don't understand why its intermittent. It seems like its timed because this morning I decided to try to duplicate the ptoblem so I could troubleshoot. I made it about 20 mins from my house before it shut down. After sitting 20 mins it fired back up and I headed home. The car shut off in my drive way. Exact same distance and time as it did earilier

Those two codes go hand and hand with a bad crank sensor I have replaced tons of them over the years for those same codes and symptoms. The sensor reaches a certain temp fails then when it cools down works again. You test the sensor when it dies and won't start with a ohms meter should read 800-1200 ohms when they test bad they will test as a open circuit.

I'm not gonna jump the gun but I'm pretty sure you hit the nail on the head. I went to AutoZone and got a new ckp. I installed it and maybe it's in my head but it seems like the car just runs better than ever now. I drove it for about 30 mins. I let ect get to 198*f. I think the problem is solved. Ill know for sure tomorrow morning. Thank you

1 more quick question. Ever since I got the car every few weeks a light will come on in the dash that says "SERVICE" with a wrench next to it. If I plug in my code reader there is no codes. It doesn't seem to affect much. Only thing I've noticed is hard shifting sometimes. What does this light mean?

Its most likely setting a code P1811 trans appatives max. Its a default mode it will go into when the transmission pressure isn't able to be controlled by the computer resulting in a hard shift because the computer commands full line pressure on till the next key cycle. You just need a more advanced scan tool then a diyer scan tool to read the other codes. Number one fix is a bad pressure control solenoid I have replaced tons of them for that issue. Glad to hear the other issue is solved most likely.
