My right turn signal doesn't work in the front or the back and the blinking indicator on the dash does not work. A couple people have checked my fuses, the bulbs, tried bulbs from the other side that worked and they did not work on the right side. Someone said it could be something like a sensor or switch in the column? I would like to try to narrow it down before I start buying all types of parts? Any ideas? Is this something that I would have to take to the (overpriced) dealers or get fixed relatively easy? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

What happens is the turn signal flasher and hazard flasher are the same and they go out causing one side or both the stop working.

Here is a wiring diagram and a test guide so we can confirm the problem and get it fixed.

At the flasher module, apply battery voltage to the Light Green wire. If the lights come on, you have a faulty column switch. If lights do not come on, apply battery voltage to the Dark Blue wire and if lights come on, the flasher module is faulty.

If lights do not come on, you have to check for an open circuit in the wiring circuit from relay to the bulbs.

I finally got a friend to come check the wires. He verified that it is the flasher module. However, he was unable to locate the module.
Where is that located and do I need to do anything special to take it out to be replaced?
Thank you.

It is under left side of dash but I could not find any location diagram to show you.

It is a plug and use component so nothing special about it. Book time is 12 minutes for replacement so should be rather easy.

In our database, it is refered to as " Turn Signal/Hazard Flasher Module".

Commonly used name for this component is "Flasher Relay".

Other names are " Hazard Warning Flasher" or Turn Signal Flasher"

I assume bulbs are good. Check to see if power is going to them it may be a ground issue or it may be a turn signal switch

Check the relays in the under hood fuse box, for doors and windows. Then check your switch on teh drier's side it may be bad. If yo uhave the digital dash that may need to be fixed.

Electrical problem
1997 Pontiac Bonneville 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 191, 00 miles

My 1997 Bonneville turn signals suddenly stopped working. Both passenger and driver side, front and back. The inside indicators also don't work. However, the emergency flashers do work fine. Mechanically, everything seems to work -- the switch still clicks off after a turn, but there isn't a clicking sound, either.

Appreciate any thoughts!

Yes, it sounds like you need a new flasher fuse, even though your flasher fuse may be bad, your hazzard lights will still work.

Not fuse, flasher fuse/relay. Its probably silver and round in this vehicle, but it can also be black and rectangular or yellow and big like a square relay but rectangular

Hello, I'd check the fuse and check that the fuse circuit is hot with the key on. Next, I would check the flasher.

If all that is ok, next I look at the turn switch.
