I have a 2002 Mercury Sable, while driving it looses power but then will pick it right back up. Sometimes when idling the speedometer and rpm will go up. I have relaced the fuel pump and inline fuel filter. What else can it be? Now, after sitting for several months when I start it my steering is squeeling. What can that be? Can I fix it myself? HELP PLEASE!

Check your belt tensioner for having right tension, it may have lost soem. This could also be your power losss. Also check engine vacuum if belwo 15'" check for clogged converter.

Thanks. How do I check my belt tensioner? How tight does it have to be? Also, how do I check the engine vacuum?

I need to put the little plastic clamps that come with the inline fuel filter. I have tried to do this several times but I keep breaking the darn things. Is there a tool I need or how do I get these to go on?

I did that and they keep breaking. Bought more and even tho they say they are right ones, they won't snap into the connector part. Do these have to be on the filter lines or can I put some round radiator clamps?
