Cannot get the gear lever into any other position
I stopped the vehicle to let my wife out , I put it into park left running, I got out to assist my wife from the passenger's side. When I went to put it back into drive the lever would not come out of the park position. Also I would like to know how to remove the cover of shift lever?

Are the brake lites functional? if okay have the shift interlock control solenoid checked and tested-

Thank you, had the solenoid checked and found out that the whole shift mechanism had to be replaced as the solenoid itself is not available separately. My technician has removed the electrical lockout function. Should there be any other problems from doing this.
