How do you replace a heater core?

HEATER CORE

Removal & Installation

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Remove instrument panel. Remove junction block splash shield. See Fig. 187. Remove bolts and disconnect cable ends from starter relay. See Fig. 99. Remove bolts and position aside junction block bracket. See Fig. 100. Disconnect heater hose couplings. See Fig. 152.

2. Remove screw and A/C plenum demister adapter. See Fig. 153. Remove screws and position aside relay bracket. See Fig. 154. Disconnect A/C vacuum hose from A/C vacuum check valve. See Fig. 155.

3. Remove 15 plenum chamber assembly top screws and remove plenum chamber top. See Fig. 156. Remove temperature blend door assembly. Remove heater core from plenum. See Fig. 157.

4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate coolant hoses with coolant hose lubricant or plain water only if needed. Fill and bleed cooling system. Check system for proper operation.
